Direct Placement provides job seekers with disabilities the tools and supports to conduct a successful job search. The Job Seeker and Job Developer work together to fine tune job seeking skills, identify job leads, negotiate needed accommodations and develop supports to ensure long-term job retention. A strong emphasis is placed on assisting the job seeker to obtain full-time employment with opportunity for career advancement.
Supported Employment provides job seekers with more significant disabilities the comprehensive supports to work successfully in the community with local businesses or in one of Challenge’s Social Enterprises. Supports include career planning and assessment, job development, on-site job coaching, travel training, and long-term assistance to maintain employment with career growth. Challenge staff work closely with the individual, family, and community support agencies to maximize the individual’s success and independence at work and in the community.

Employment and Training Program
Employment Training Program (ETP) the Employment Training Program provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to gain real work experience and attend job readiness classes to build success. The goal of the ETP internship is to assist individuals in obtaining employment in the community and earning at least a minimum wage at the completion of the internship.
Individuals work with a Job Developer to create an individualized, paid work experience that matches and individuals skills and abilities and to build the skills needed to pursue quality employment. Additionally, interns will learn real world work skills including industry specific tasks, technology employment standards and work culture.
The program also give support to the interns with intensive coaching. Job coaches work with the individual and their supervisor to provide step by step instruction to learn all job responsibilities and support them to develop the skills to navigate work culture to improve job retention, skills such as time management, customer service, conflict resolution, communication and flexibility with both the employer and co-workers.
